Privacy Policy

Terms such as "the platform", "the platforms", "the site", "MuD AI" or "mudai.app" refer to the MUD AI web platform and the individual project instances.

Data we collect

Authentication data: access to the platforms is managed by Auth0, Inc. You can also register and sign in using Facebook Login. In that case we receive from Meta the data you authorize to share, including your email address and a unique account identifier. The email address is used solely as an identifier for authentication and is not stored in clear text on our systems.
Game data: your character, actions, progress, and the content and messages you create or send within the game (for example the commands and messages directed at non-player characters and the Game Master).
Technical and navigation data: the technical session cookie, IP address, and log data necessary for the operation and security of the platforms.

Purposes of processing

We process personal data solely for the following purposes:

Account creation, management, and authentication: to register you, identify you across sessions, and secure your access to the platforms, including through Auth0 and Facebook Login.
Providing the game service: to run the Multi-User Dungeon, manage your character, game state, and progress, and to process the commands and messages you send during play.
AI-powered gameplay features: the content you send during play (chat, commands, messages directed at non-player characters and the Game Master) is transmitted to third-party artificial intelligence service providers to generate, in real time, character behavior, narrative, and quests. These providers may be located outside the European Economic Area (see "International transfers").
Security and abuse prevention: to ensure the proper functioning of the platforms, prevent fraud and misuse, and maintain the security of the service.
Support and communications: to respond to requests you send to our support and privacy addresses.
Legal compliance: to meet legal obligations and respond to legitimate requests from competent authorities.

Legal basis for processing

The processing of personal data occurs: on the basis of the consent of the interested party, expressed at the time of registration on the platforms, for the purposes of account creation, providing the game service, and AI-powered features; on the basis of the legitimate interest of the controller for navigation data, technical cookies, and the security of the platforms; and on the basis of compliance with legal obligations, where applicable.

Rights of the interested parties

Users have the right to access their personal data, request rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing. These rights can be exercised by contacting [email protected].

Data retention period

Personal data will be retained for the time necessary to achieve the purposes for which they were collected, or for the period required by law.

International transfers

Access to the platforms is managed by Auth0, Inc., and user navigation data is managed on servers located in Europe. Content processed for AI-powered features may be transmitted to third-party providers located outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United States. In such cases the transfer takes place under appropriate safeguards, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Automated decision-making

We use artificial intelligence to generate game content, narrative, and character behavior. We do not carry out any automated decision-making, including profiling, that produces legal effects or similarly significantly affects users.

Complaints

Users have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority if they believe that the processing of their personal data violates applicable regulations.

Updates to the Privacy Policy

The data controller reserves the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy to adapt it to regulatory changes and technological improvements.
